Introduction:
During the following weeks, please join me as I put my scalp in the hands of my amazing trichologist specialist and longtime hair stylist, Jennifer Doe, while she addresses my thinning hair concerns.
In my younger years, I had long, thick curls and big bushy eyebrows. Five years ago, I was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition and along with a series of symptoms, hair loss really kicked into gear. Today I’m learning that my thinning hair is a result of both hereditary challenges, age and my health condition. Jen has worked with me this past month by scanning my scalp, reviewing my blood work, health condition diagnoses and assessing the best noninvasive plan for me.
We’ve started a treatment plan that includes a combination of microneedling, red light therapy, and CALECIM's serum. I’m excited to explore the potential benefits these techniques promise. Each week, I’ll document my experiences, insights, and any changes I observe, and will share everything about the experience here.
Week One: The Initial Scan
We started with an initial scan, a crucial first step in understanding the current state of my scalp and hair health. As I settled into the consultation room, I felt a mix of anticipation and curiosity. Jen explained the scanning process, which involved a specialized camera that magnified my scalp, revealing details I had never noticed before. As she examined my scalp, she took note of various factors such as hair density, scalp condition, and any signs of inflammation or stress. After the scan, we discussed the findings, and I was surprised to learn about specific areas that needed attention. She emailed me a link where I could review everything on my own. It was enlightening to see the images on the screen and learn more about what might be affecting my hair growth.
First Official Session
During my first official treatment with Jen at Ginny’s Hair Salon on Middle Road, she started by talking me through the entire process, explaining each step of the plan, which includes microneedling, CALECIM®️ serum, and red-light therapy. I was a bit nervous at first, but she assured me that the treatments are designed to be gentle and effective—and she was right!
The microneedling was surprisingly painless. It felt more like a light tapping and occasional light scratching sensation on my scalp. Jen explained in detail that scalp microneedling utilizes the body’s own healing mechanism to promote a positive hair growth action. She applied the CALECIM serum during the procedure, which is specifically formulated to promote hair growth and health. I loved how she emphasized the importance of each product and technique. Finally, we moved on to the red-light therapy, which stimulates collagen production and helps improve skin elasticity. This was such a relaxing part of the experience! I could feel the warmth of the light, and it was a perfect way to wrap up the session.
Overall, I left feeling hopeful and excited about the potential results. Thank you, Jen, for your incredible care and expertise.
Stay tuned for updates on my journey!
